I didn't realize this before, but there are lots of spa treatments you can't actually have when you're expecting. For the safety of your baby, the treatments are only offered to mommies beyond their first trimester.
My number one pampering experience hands down is the mummy massage at SensAsia Urban spa at Emirates Golf club. The spa itself is very nice and relaxing and they provide everything from slippers, robe, locker, towels and showers. The staff here is just brilliant, all of them, from the ladies at the reception to the therapists that treat you. Miss Poj, my amazing therapist from Thailand laid me on my left side on the bed with big pillows tucked in front of me and between my knees with one arm under my head pillow, so she could reach my back. She explained that she will only apply natural almond oil to my skin. Using natural skin products is especially important for use during pregnancy. This is because the young developing baby skin is very sensitive to all substances as it is much thinner than adult skin, very permeable and will easily absorb substances into the blood stream. Babies are therefore more susceptible to damage from toxins applied to the skin. My massage was ridiculously good. After one hour of pure bliss, she continued with facial. Another 60 minutes of heaven! After the massage ended, Miss Poj offered me a ginger tea and veggies to munch on.
